HE THROWS ME DOWN TO MAKE ME HIS PRINCE!

He drew me out of the miry clay…

from Dust and Water...

                        ...to a Vessel of Honor!

Jer 18:1  The word which came to Jeremiah from, YHWH, saying,
Jer 18:2  Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
Jer 18:3  Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
Jer 18:4  And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Jer 18:5  Then the word of YHWH came to me, saying,
Jer 18:6  O house of Israel, cannot,  I do with you as this potter? saith YHWH. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

Reggie Lisemby  A Vessel in His Kiln, a Potter at His Wheel

Shalom to You, Beloved! from Reggie Lisemby

GOD SPEAKS In Many Ways God revealed His Holy Word in myriad ways: through dreams and visions; by angels and prophets; using donkey and bush; and in parables and stories. And, He even used clay!

GOD SPEAKS In Many Places God spoke His Word to Moshe in the desert, to Shmuel in his bedroom, to D'vid (David) in a cave, to Sh'ul (Paul) in prison, to Yochanon (John) on Patmos, to Yonah in the belly of a fish, and to Yermeyahu (Jeremiah) at a potter's house outside the dung gate of Jerusalem, in the valley of hinnom. The best clay came from here -nextdoor to hell.

GOD SPEAKS In the Clay God told Yermeyahu to go down to the potter's house. There he would learn theology by seeing! Clay consist of two elements, the same as man, dust and water, and there must be a proper balance of both. Clay must be wedged to soften, to wake up its particles, to eliminate air bubbles, to make the clay homogenous. Man, must also be treated roughly -so it seems- by His creator. Clay is then thrown down on the wheel, the wheel is kicked, and the work begins. Of course, the potter already has a vessel in mind, one of honor, one for serving food or drink. The clay is centered to lie quietly in the palms, the clay is opened or given a heart, the clay is disciplined or built up, and the clay once trimmed is set and placed in the fire. Whew! The clay goes through alot to be the glory of its potter. The clay is now a vessel for serving and it is an honor to serve!
